Vortechnics, Inc., a provider of stormwater treatment systems, announced that it will join forces with Stormwater Management, Inc., the manufacturer of StormFilter, a filtration product for the treatment of urban runoff.
The announcement was made following the acquisition of Stormwater Management by the parent company of Vortechnics, CONTECH Construction Products Inc. CONTECH, which acquired Vortechnics in March 2004, is a comprehensive civil engineering site solutions products and services company.
With products serving the municipal, industrial, residential and commercial construction markets, both Stormwater Management and Vortechnics have been involved in the treatment of stormwater pollution, developing technological innovations that are used to clean stormwater that runs off parking lots, roads and other impervious surfaces. If not removed from this runoff, the contaminants can accumulate in surface waters damaging ecosystems and polluting watersheds.
Vortechnics and Stormwater Management will combine over the coming months, but all Vortechnics sales offices and facilities will remain as they are and no staffing changes are planned. The company stated that more details about the integration of the two companies will be announced in the near future.
"The combined resources will be unparalleled in the stormwater industry. As Vortechnics and Stormwater Management align our efforts, our customers will experience the benefits of integrated service and the combined power of our leading technologies," said David Miley, chief executive officer of Vortechnics. "Maine is the place that Vortechnics has called home for more than 15 years and it will continue to be. From our state-of-the-art stormwater research laboratory to our 51 Maine-based employees, we remain committed to our local community."
