Grate Curb Inlet Filter Stands Up to New York City Construction Activity

Synthetic fibers help product hold its shape

During a construction project in New York City for the Columbia University Manhattanville Campus, E. E. Cruz needed grate inlet protection.

The main constriction to the decision was the grate inlets were at the construction entrance where trucks and other heavy equipment would be running over it.  Knowing a standard biodegradable wattle would eventually bust from the weight of the equipment, GeoHay was used instead as a grate curb inlet filter near the construction entrance.

With its use and construction of synthetic fibers, the product held its shape longer and outperformed what might also have been used.
