Hanson Pipe & Precast Provides Materials for Texas Grand Parkway Project
Hanson Pipe & Precast, a manufacturer of concrete pipe and precast products, was selected to provide more than 33,000 ft of reinforced concrete pipe and 43,000 ft of reinforced concrete box culverts for Segment E of the Grand Parkway project near Houston, Texas. These products will manage basic storm water runoff between two major thoroughfares, Interstate 10 and Highway 290, which is important to prevent flooding and keep traffic flow moving during days of heavy rains. The 15-mile stretch from Katy Freeway to Northwest Freeway will be a four-lane controlled access toll road that serves as part of a larger loop surrounding the greater Houston area.
Hanson Pipe & Precast was selected by J.D. Abrams to provide project materials due to the economic benefits of their products as well as the proximity of their facilities to the project site. The project’s use of reinforced concrete products provides the city with quality, pre-engineered products as a reliable, cost-efficient and sustainable solution for storm water management.
The Hanson Pipe & Precast products also met the high structural integrity requirements the Texas Department of Transportation set for this project.
Construction for the project began in September 2011 and is projected to be completed January 2014.
