Site increases pipe product supply in Red River Valley area

Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (ADS) is opening a new distribution yard. The facility, previously operated by Valley Farm Tile, is located in Wahpeton, N.D. With this addition, ADS now has 28 distribution centers with 58 domestic and international manufacturing plants.

“This is a full-service stocking yard that has a strong reputation for fulfilling the needs for agricultural drainage pipe in this area," stated Mike Hagen, Midwest regional sales Manager for ADS. "Demand continues to grow in the upper Midwest for ADS agricultural pipe products such as heavy duty single wall pipe maxi-coils, N-12 corrugated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, water control structures and ADS HP lift stations."

"Field drainage is proven to increase crop yields," Hagen continued. "In fact, research shows a 25% increase in corn and soybean production.”

ADS was the first company in the U.S. to produce HDPE pipe for use in agricultural drainage. “We are pleased to increase our service to the Red River Valley,” stated Hagen. “Since introducing our distinctive green striped pipe, ADS has led the industry in providing quality pipe, fittings and other accessories to improve effectiveness."

Available in 4- to 60-in. diameters, ADS N-12 pipe is used for storm water management and is also used in grain aeration, farm tile systems and in animal feed operations for waste removal.

According to Hagen, the use of ADS products in South Dakota, North Dakota and northern Minnesota has increased, and during the past five years ADS has added manufacturing capacity in the region. The Watertown, S.D., plant added in 2012 is the third new manufacturing facility in this region, joining plants in Hampton, Iowa, and Buxton, N.D. This increase in manufacturing plants and stocking yards are part of ADS' $10 million capital investment to add significant pipe production capacity to the region.
