StormCon 2022

September 26-28, 2022

Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center

National Harbor, Md.

StormCon is the stormwater and surface water quality industry’s premier conference and exhibition, bringing together attendees from around the world for idea-sharing, information exchange, and networking. Featuring a multi-track conference program led by top leaders in the industry, StormCon provides exceptional opportunities to learn, engage, and build key contacts.

StormCon offers a diverse conference program featuring 40+ sessions across several tracks including BMP Monitoring; Flood Modeling & Mitigation; Green Infrastructure; Industrial Stormwater Management; Programs, Permits & Compliance; and Transportation & Construction Stormwater. This year’s program includes several high-profile speakers and project spotlights, beginning with the conference keynote on Tuesday, September 27 at 8 a.m.

With a focus on the Chesapeake Bay region and an eye on the importance of stormwater management throughout the United States, StormCon’s 2022 keynote address will focus on where the industry is today and the challenges that lie ahead. Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and EPA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Adam Ortiz will address the StormCon audience and set the stage for a fabulous event.

Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks is a proud, lifelong Prince Georgian, the 8th County Executive for Prince George’s County, and the first woman to hold the position. At StormCon 2022, she will provide perspective on the intersection between green infrastructure, the environment, and stormwater management.

EPA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Adam Ortiz currently oversees federal environmental and public health protections in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, the District of Columbia, and seven federally recognized tribes. At StormCon 2022, he will speak about his work today with EPA, and share perspectives from his previous experience as a small-town mayor who faced a devastating flood in the first month on the job in 2005.

“We have massive and imminent climate threats to the stability of our communities and our economy, and we need to step up and accelerate the stormwater infrastructure industry,” Ortiz said. “As an industry of stormwater professionals, we have learned much in recent decades, but have an imperative challenge in front of us — of speed and scale to be able to adapt in time.”

For those in attendance ahead of the official kick-off, a Monday evening Bus Tour, entitled Sights and Spirits and sponsored by Corvias, will bring registered attendees on a tour of local stormwater and green infrastructure projects while they enjoy refreshments and light fare. Sites include John Hanson Montessori, the Oxon Hill Library, Potomac Business Park, and more. Additional registration is required for this program and space is limited — so sign up early.

In addition to these educational opportunities, a joint exhibit floor with the National Rural Water Association’s WaterPro Conference will allow attendees to learn about the latest and greatest from top companies serving stormwater and water quality professionals. SW
