Xylem Inc. Publishes First Sustainability Report

Nov. 6, 2012

The report offers a snapshot of Xylem in its first year as a standalone company

Xylem Inc., a global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s water issues, announced the release of its first sustainability report as a standalone company. The report, entitled, “A Drop is Everything,” details Xylem’s accomplishments in the area of sustainability for its worldwide operations in the past year, and follows Xylem’s inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index on Sept. 13, 2012.

The title of Xylem’s 2011-2012 Sustainability Report, “A Drop is Everything,” reflects the vital place of water in the world and Xylem’s central role in finding better ways to transport, treat and test this essential resource. Highlights of the report include Xylem’s commitment to use more sustainability measurements to assess and select supplier partners, as well as Xylem’s goal to pursue LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) certification on all new construction at Xylem.

“Earlier this year we formed a Sustainability Steering Committee with employees from all geographies, businesses and functions, which meets regularly to guide our sustainability efforts and ensure we maintain momentum,” said Xylem’s Chief Sustainability Officer, and President of the company’s Analytics business Chris McIntire.

The report offers a baseline snapshot of Xylem in its first year as a standalone company. Where possible, metrics shed light on the company’s sustainability performance, and in other areas Xylem sets sustainability goals and features best practices from the company’s individual businesses and sites.
