American Peat Technology’s APTsorb line of water remediation media continues to grow. The second-generation line is especially suited for runoff and storm water treatment applications. APTsorb II uses peat to adsorb dissolved heavy metals, including copper, nickel, lead, cadmium, chrome, zinc, aluminum, cobalt and manganese. The third-generation product adsorbs those same metals, but has a more active external and internal surface area and higher capacity than APTsorb II. It also is the basis on which future products are being developed. The company’s engineering team is in the process of developing new media to target specific issues, such as mercury, phosphorous, sulfate and others.
