Raleigh, North Carolina offers stormwater volunteer opportunities
The city of Raleigh, North Carolina, announced on April 17, 2025, that it is offering short- and long-term stormwater volunteer opportunities. Residents can learn how to protect water quality in the city through different volunteer programs.
The city currently offers five programs as well as a new green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) monitoring program, to track how GSI projects grow and transform over time. The new program allows visitors to use one of the phone stands to take photos. The photos can then be shared with the city to help monitor GSI.
Volunteer opportunities include the following:
- Storm drain marking
- Stream cleanups
- Stream monitoring
- Adopt a stream
- Use a rain barrel
- GSI monitoring program
Raleigh Stormwater has also coordinated with organizations and individuals across the city to educate, promote and protect water quality and healthy environments. To participate in one of the programs, a volunteer registration form must be completed.
