U.S. EPA announces $188 million loan to upgrade Florida water services

The U.S. EPA announced a $188 million load to upgrade and expand water services in central Florida and improve resiliency.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the state of Florida have scheduled a press event to announce funding for Florida water services.

The U.S. EPA stated in a press release that they will announce a $188.3 million Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) loan to Toho Water Authority in central Florida.

By utilizing the WIFIA loan, the authority will modernize their water infrastructure in Polk and Osceola Counties to improve water supply resiliency for over 450,000 residents.

U.S. EPA officials will be joined by U.S. Representative Darren Soto and CEO and Executive Director of Toho Water Authority Todd Swingle at the event.

The event, scheduled for August 13, 2024, will take place at the Toho Water Authority Boardroom in Kissimmee, Florida.

The press event is meant to highlight the $188.3 million loan to the Toho Water Authority for water infrastructure projects in Polk and Osceola Counties.
