Land Acquisition Support Services for Colorado Springs Utilities' Southern Delivery Program

Project will result in the ability to transport water for current and future population demands of El Paso County, Colo.

Critigen, a spatial enterprise solutions and cloud managed services provider, announced May 8 that it signed a contract with Colorado Springs Utilities to provide land surveying support services.

Critigen’s Geomatics Surveying and Mapping practice will provide land acquisition support services for the ongoing Southern Delivery System (SDS) regional water project. The services will support the Utilities land agents in acquiring easements and fee parcels needed for the construction of the conveyance systems and facilities of the project, which is currently under construction. This will include field support, preparation of legal descriptions, exhibits and GIS support.

Scheduled for completion in 2016, the SDS will transport water from the Arkansas River to the city of Colorado Springs and its project partners—Pueblo West Metropolitan District, Security Water District and the City of Fountain—through an underground water transmission pipeline.

“This project will provide a stable water supply for these southern Colorado communities well into this century,” said Farhan Shaikh, Critigen vice president.

More information regarding the comprehensive scope of the SDS Program is available online, here.
