A flash flood watch was issued in Clark County, Nev. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the watch was issued at 12:30 p.m. and was in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 24. The National Weather Service tweeted that a severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 6:45 p.m. for Boulder City, Nev. and Lake Mead, Nev. areas.
As of 12:15 p.m. Thursday, July 25, a storm is approaching the southwest area of the Las Vegas Valley, according to KTNV. The aftermath of the storm is still yet to be seen.
Rain covered parts of the southern valley, which prompted a flash flood warning near Primm. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, showers were reported over Henderson at 8 a.m. and around 0.87 in. recorded at Arroyo Grande Sports Complex by 7 p.m.
“No rain was recorded at the weather service’s station at McCarran International Airport, but sections of the north valley saw between 0.12 and 0.04 of an inch of rain,” Meteorologist Jenn Varian said, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
A flash flood warning was issued at 11 a.m. between Nipton and Mountain Pass, where heavy rain came down about 10:30 a.m. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the warning remained until 1:30 p.m.
Touro University students had to navigate campus parking lots as a running water stream formed around 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“Some of our parking for students is across that street. We now have one of our security guards helping students,” said Melody Crickman, director of marketing and public relations for the university, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal.
