Water Citizen Launches Keys to Water in Congress Program
Source Water Citizen
Water Citizen launched a new program called the Keys to Water in Congress (KWIC). The KWIC program was developed in recognition of how critical it is for water citizens (people who are passionate about water) to have a basic understanding of “how water flows through Congress.” The KWIC program will provide tools and information for anyone who wants to track, testify on and transform legislation on Water in Congress—regardless of their issue or position.
The Water Citizen KWIC program will be kicked off with a free webinar that will provide a wide range of information about what the program will be offering and how it works. The KWIC program was developed as a way to support water citizens who want to engage on water issues in Congress, and to provide a better understanding of the people, the processes and the ways to participate.
The webinar will be led by Dr. Cat Shrier, a 20+ year veteran of water resources planning, innovation and policy, who has been inspired by the passion of the water community to become the founder of Water Citizen and create the KWIC program.
One of the preliminary topics will be discussing how and when the legislative process works. The next topic will be learning who does what exactly in Congress concerning water legislation. This includes how to identify and connect with the key members of Congress and staff. Finally the last topic will be showing how people can be a part of the process. Knowing more about water in Congress means understanding how to track and understand key players and legislation—without necessarily involving advocacy or lobbying activities.
