Update (04/30/2020): On April 21, 2020, EPA extended the public comment period for the proposed 2020 Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) for 30 days until May 31, 2020. Since then, EPA received several comments that May 31, 2020, is a Sunday. Therefore, per federal regulations at 1 CFR §18.17, EPA will accept comments through the next business day, Monday, June 1, 2020. The docket has been updated to reflect this administrative correction.
On March 2, 2020, all ten of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Regions proposed for public comment the 2020 National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) general permit for stormwater discharges associated with industrial activity, also referred to as the “2020 Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP)” or the “proposed permit.”
As initially published in the Federal Register, comments on the proposed permit were to be submitted to the EPA on or before May 1, 2020 (a 60-day public comment period). Since publication, the EPA received multiple requests for additional time to submit comments. Therefore, the EPA has extended the public comment period for 30 days. This proposed permit will be open for public comment from March 2, 2020, to May 31, 2020. Comments can be submitted on www.regulations.gov for docket ID # EPA-HQ-OW-2019-0372.

ABOUT NPDES
The NPDES permit program addresses water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants to waters of the United States. Created in 1972 by the Clean Water Act, the NPDES permit program is authorized to state governments by EPA to perform many permitting, administrative, and enforcement aspects of the program.
