Georgetown County, S.C.’s Morse Landing Park will soon be the site of a storm water management best-practices demonstration area, according to a report in the Georgetown Times.
Executive Director Sue Sledz said with Georgetown County working to develop a storm water ordinance to minimize degradation of area water bodies, this seems like the perfect time for the Murrells Inlet Special Area Management Project to be completed.
Steve Moore, planning director for the Oceanic and Coastal Resource Management, a division of the Department of Health and Environmental Control, said the landscape design for the park is set to go.
“These demonstration areas will show people best management practices they can use in their own yards,” Moore said.
“People don’t realize how much storm water running off concrete and other impervious surfaces affects the water quality of our rivers and streams. Fertilizers, pesticides and pavement add to pollution more than you think.”
