IFAT ENTSORGA, the international trade fair for environmental technology, is set to take place Sept. 13 to 17, 2010, at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Munich, Germany. The 16th-edition integrated trade fair will host events covering current topics, trends and technologies in water, sewage, waste and raw materials management. Messe München Intl. and BDE, Europe’s largest association of waste, water and recycling businesses, are collaborating to present the 2010 fair.
In 2008, IFAT realized its strongest presence yet—nearly 120,000 visitors representing 170 countries, plus 2,605 exhibitors from 41 countries. Based on current registration numbers and the companies on board thus far, event managers anticipate an even greater turnout this year.
Exhibition
New technologies will be a primary focus at the 2010 event. Storm Water Solutions subscribers will find no shortage of products and services pertaining to their work: Visitors can explore offerings in pumps, piping, sewer inspection, rainwater harvesting, street cleaning, instrumentation, engineering and more.
“As a leading international trade fair in the environmental sector, we included the important theme of coastal protection and flood control in our nomenclature for the first time in 2008,” said Eugen Egetenmeir, a management board member for Messe München. “We are confident that our exhibitors at IFAT 2010 will be presenting a wide range of ways for managing the unavoidable.”
Expanded hall space will be dedicated to water extraction and water and sewage treatment, featuring industry leaders such as Andritz, Huber, Kemira, Norit, Passavant-Geiger and Siemens. International pavilions—Belgium- and U.K.-specific, for example—will house exhibits from global companies. Exhibition specifics, including a preliminary exhibitor list and a product index, are available online.
Events Program
IFAT will host various conferences, symposia, workshops and forums throughout the week; experts representing trade associations, ministries, government agencies and other industry organizations will present. SWS susbscribers may find the water and sewage management forums in Hall A4 particularly interesting and useful; these will comprise lectures and panel discussions.
The Research & Education Area, including a joint exhibition stand for international universities, will make its second appearance at IFAT. Additionally, the 15th International Symposium: Water, Wastewater, Waste, Energy will be held simultaneously, offering field trips, a manhole rescue competition, a Young Water Professionals gathering and more.
IFAT will return to its traditional spring slot in 2012, with events to be held biennially thereafter.
