Design and Construction of Permeable Pavements

June 2, 2015

At Forester University, our live webinars present you with the stormwater management experts, who share best management practices, informative project case studies, and real-world applications. Join our faculty of industry experts in our live webinar (or series of webinars) exploring the technological innovations, project site applications, and any associated regulatory requirements in a comprehensive discussion of this topic. Please see below for a full description and registration information for this event.

Design and Construction of Permeable Pavements
Module 2 of the Permeable Pavement Master Class

June 17, 2015

Permeable pavement systems can be effective and sustainable…if you design it and build it right from the get-go. And the design (and construction) are in the details.

Get beyond the basics and into the details! Join David Hein to explore the key elements and best practices in the design and construction of permeable pavements (porous asphalt, pervious concrete, permeable interlocking concrete, and grid pavements) through real-world examples of permeable pavement designs for roadways, shoulders, and parking areas.

[text_ad] In this second session of our Permeable Pavement Master Class Series, we'll explore the structural and hydrological design and construction features, as well as the challenges and applications of permeable pavements. As part of this discussion, Hein will overview the design and construction considerations and best practices of porous asphalt, pervious concrete, permeable interlocking concrete blocks, and grid pavements, including:
  1. Subgrade preparation
  2. Characterization of design traffic
  3. Base and subbase materials
  4. Design for structural capacity
  5. Design for hydrological capacity
Additionally, we'll discuss each of the above through real-world worked examples and case studies illustrating the "dos" and "don'ts" of design and construction features to help you know what to look out for when constructing permeable pavements. Finally, Hein will highlight good maintenance practices to ensure the long-term performance of your permeable pavements.
