Ductile Iron Pipe

Ductile iron pipe recently earned a Gold Level certification for sustainability from the Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability (MTS). Called Sustainable Materials Rating Technology (“SMaRT”), the rating system requires a product to have multiple environmental, social, and economic benefits over its supply chain. Ductile iron pipe received especially high marks for its recycled content, recyclability, exceedingly long life, and for the industry’s commitment to controlling emissions and conserving energy and water. With trillions of dollars needed to upgrade and expand our nation’s water infrastructure, communities should look to sustainable and durable products like ductile iron pipe.
